Frank's Folly

Four Bedroom Ocean Front House, Located in Oak Island

My entire family was very comfortable spread out in the six bedroom layout of this home. We enjoyed our peaceful time on the deck and the beach area below. The home was comfortable, clean, and had many of the amenities that we expected and have at our own home. I would highly recommend this home for any family looking to vacation on Oak Island.

We have been coming to coastal North Carolina for the past 6 years. This year was our 2nd visit to Oak Island and the first to stay at Frank's Folly. The West Beach is a great place to stay. And we loved staying in your home. We especially loved sitting on the deck and absorbing the beautiful view. We saw dolphins playing in the surf and enjoed watching the cargo ships as they passed thru the channel.

During this stay we had an unplanned visitor - Tropical Storm Hanna. We actually checked out of the house on Friday to escape Hanna's arrival on Saturday morning. However, we were 10 miles off the island when our alternator went out in our truck. So we came back to the house and stayed as Hanna came on shore. Although to the locals, it was not a bad storm, to us landlubbering midwesterners, it was bad enough. Other than the house shaking, there were no other effects. The power was out for about 45 minutes. We were amazed that it was restored in the midst of the storm. While I wouid prefer not to remain the next time a tropical storm hits, all in all the experience was not too bad. We could not see any affects on Frank's Folly, however the house next door (to the West) did have some siding blow off. There was some minor flooding on Beach Drive, but nothing that could not be gotten around.

We would love to stay at Frank's Folly next year if we decide to return to Oak Island. From the size the of house and all the amenities, it is the best house on the island.

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home.

Favorite Family Activites: Riding bikes
Kayaking
Playing with grandchildren in the sand - the sand box under the house was great - the grandchildren (ages 3, 2, and 1) could play there protected from the sun.

Favorite Places to Visit or Eat: Provisions in Southport is one of our favorite places - a little rustic but good food.

On the island, we like the Blue Point Marina restaurant. Good "low country" food
